Meditation Advice

You ask about meditation.

In the East, people meditate by emptying themselves, but in Christian circles, we take the Word of God, read it, think about what it says, who the people are it is addressed to, what their relationship is to each other and to God. Then we draw from that the truths that can make our own actions and lives more like Jesus. Christians fill themselves with God's word by meditation on it.

Jesus told his disciples to receive the Holy Spirit in order to have power to share the Good News with the world around them. When the Holy Spirit fell on them in the second chapter of the book of Acts, they spoke in Tongues. All of them did! We can pray for the Holy Spirit today and when we are filled, we will know it by the fact that we have been given a new language.

The Tongues, is primarily a prayer language,  1 Corinthians 14:2 "For he that speaketh in a tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth; but in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."

The bible does not encourage everyone to speak in tongues at the same time in church, but says that we should limit messages in tongues in the church to three at the most in one service, and wait for each to be interpreted, as you find in

1 Cor chapter 14. There must be time for worship, and teaching from the Word of God and time for people to pray and praise.
