Forgiveness Questions
Question: Doesn’t God's forgiveness to all; no matter what crime we did, encourage us to sin?
Answer: No, because forgiveness is based on true repentance. Repentance is a change of thought and action to correct a wrong and gain forgiveness from a person who is wronged. It refers to confession to God, ceasing sin against God, and resolving to live according to His standards. It includes an admission of guilt, a promise or resolve not to repeat the offense; an attempt to make restitution for the wrong, or in some way to reverse the harmful effects of the wrong where possible. This is why Jesus told the Pharisees and Sadducees who came to be baptized that they should, "But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruit in keeping with repentance." Matt 3:7-8.
Question: Because we know that after we have sinned, if we ask for forgiveness, God as he has promised would always forgive us. So when we get tempted we may easily fall, because within ourselves we would feel that we ask for repentance later.
Answer: Wrong again. The answer is the same as above.
Question: Though I know that our belief in our Lord would give us the strength to resist the evil one, I am not able to answer anyone who asks me this question.
Answer: Wrong assumption again. The Bible says in James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Who resists? You do. You are on your own.
Don’t expect God to bail you out. It is your choice.
